Bach, P. D. Q.

Timeless composer P. D. Q. Bach (1807-1742?) was the twenty-first and last of Johann Sebastian Bach's twenty children. This "the last and by far the least" is the alter ego and brainchild of composer Peter Schickele. The music of P. D. Q. ranges from gentle satire to broad parody of all types of music, but emphasizes the classical repertoire. Representative works include Pervertimento for Bagpipes, Bicycle, and Balloons The Stoned Guest, a half-act opera, Concerto for Piano versus Orchestra in Bb Major and the cantata Iphigenia in Brooklyn.
