Drumlines
What is a drum line, or drumline you ask?
depends on the individual group i suppose, but most include all the round hoops with stretched animal skins tightened over them that are beaten with something in an attempt to create a pleasant sound?
most also include the gongs, bells, triangles, and those round pieces of clanging brass.
small bands can exist with 4 or 5 people.
while some High School, and College Marching Bands have had up to 40 or 50 pcs in their activity. when they combine the pit percussion into it and create a percussion ensemble that includes.
8 snares
9 bass
4 quads
5 tenors
8 cymbals
3 marimbas
2 xylopones
1 glockenspeil ( spelling )
1 tamborine
1 super bass drum ( 60 inch guy on a super frame )
a brake drum or two
several other guys banging on something or other
put all that stuff in one room in the winter time and try to keep your eyes open while they bang away.
yikes!
