This category is for record labels that are a part of the following "Big 5" major labels:

• BMG (Bertelsmann Music Group) and all distributed BMG labels


• EMI-Capitol and all distributed EMI-Capitol labels


• Vivendi Universal and all distributed Universal labels (including the former Polygram labels now owned by Vivendi Universal)


• Sony and all distributed Sony labels


• Warner Music Group (Warner, Elektra, and Atlantic; aka WEA) and all Warner distributed labels

There is a pending merger of the music units of Sony and Bertelsmann into a single co-owned unit named Sony BMG; once this actually happens the two categories will be merged and what was once the "Big 6" will be reduced to the "Big 4."
