Afro-Cuban

From its West African and Spanish roots, Afro-Cuban music evolved into five major genres: son, rumba, cancion cubana, danzon and punto guajiro. Afro-Cuban music has been a major influence on numerous styles of music. The rhythms of son and rumba lead to salsa, early jazz was influenced by danzon as was mambo and chachacha, timba also evolved from son.
